St. 223, 226, & 227 were alerted to the
1900 Blk of Loretta Dr. for a WSF. 911 was recieving multiple calls for a fire
in the area. 223 Capt called out with a working fire on Side C extending thru
the Roof. 223 EN1 arrived on scene req 223 EN2 take a Plug and 911 to strike
222 for the RIT. Shortly after stand by procedures were struck adding 221,
224, 225, & 285 on the Alarm for coverage of the other Stations. 516
FM1 and all utilities were notified as well. Sally Wagon was started for
Rehab. Units operated for about 2 hours and units returned as they picked up.

and AED Certifications. The class was put on By Certified instructors. Station

St. 221 & 225 were alerted for an odor
investigation with a fire alarm activation. 221 Chief called in to the scene
and was advised security was on scene with an odor in the building and he
would meet crew to guide them in. 221 Engine 2 called in service.221 Chief
arriving onscene and assuming Longview Command reporting a 2 story brink
structure, active alarm, with nothing showing, investigating further. 225
Engine 1 and 225 Truck called in service. Intital investigation found an odor
of something burning inside the structure. Longview Command requested 221
Engine 2 straight in with manpwer, SCBA, water can, and TIC. 225 Engine was
ordered to stand by at the Hydrant and prepare to lay in with 225 Truck to set
up Truck near the building, and send all crews to front of the structure for
investigation. Crews entered structure and began searching the building.
Interior Operations was assigned to 221 Asstistant. Interior Ops reported a
water condition in the Dingin Room, then reported an active fire in a storage
room off the dining room with a sprinkler head activated holding the fire.
Command requested all utilities and the Fire Marshal be notified. Crews found
a box of rags on the floor had burned and were smoldering. Extinghuishment was
completed. Crews continued a complete search of the building and found only a
water condition in the basement. Utilities were secured and Management
notified as well. Units remained on scene for some time asssiting the
Fire Marshal with his investigation. It was later determined the Contractors
who were renovating the Dining Room had left a pile of rags with linseed oil
on them in the box and over time self ignited. Fire Damage was limited to the
Storage Room with Water Damage to the Dining Room and Basement areas. All in
all the Outcome could have been much worse if it were not for the Sprinkler
and Fire Alarm and 1 very alert Security Guard. All units returned as they
picked up and Longview Command was terminated.

Complaint (Hot Water Tank). SV 221 and 225 EN1 called in with SV221 arriving
on scene. 225 EN1 arrived and crews investigated. Crews shut off the Gas and
Water Tank and notified the Gas Company. All units returned in Service.

EN1 arrived on scene reporting burnt food and cancelled all units not on

St. 225, 221, & 227 were alerted for a
smell of Natural Gas in the area. 225 Engine arrived on scene reporting a
slight odor. Chief 225 cancelled any other units not on scene. Residents
reported that the smell has been in the area for several days. Gas Company was
notified to respond and all units returned in service.

03/12/2008 - Wednesday
At 1258hrs, Wednesday Afternoon, St.
225, 221, & 227 were alerted to Petra Ministries on Robinson Blvd. @ East Gate
Dr. for a reported Natural Gas Line struck by a drilling crew. Engine 225 was
first on scene with 227 and 221 Engines arriving shortly after. 225 Asst. took
command reporting a High Pressure Natural Gas Line struck and leaking heavily.
Units shut down East Gate Dr. @ Frankstown as well as East Gate Dr in the
Shopping Center to all vehicular and foot traffic. With the Petra Ministries
houseing a a School, Day Care, and Place of Worship an immediate decision was
made to start Evacuation of the entire building as a precaution. St. 222 &
Penn Hills Fire Marshal / EMA was added to the assignment for man power to
assist in Evacuations. Crews did several walk thrus of the building with Gas
Meters while evacuation plans were being made to check for any hazards. At no
time was there any hazards found inside the building. Crews from 225, 221,
227, 222 & Penn Hills Police all worked to safely evacuate the building. PHPD
SGT made a request for several buses from the Port Authority and Penn Hills
School District to assist in moving the Students and Staff to the Covenant
Church in Wilkinsburg. Penn Hills Public Information Officer was activated to
respond to the Church to handle any questions or concerns. Nearly 300 Students
and Staff were orderly evacuated in a short period of time. St. 225 was also
opened as a shelter if needed. The City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire was also
requested to investigate there area of the City below the incident for any
smells of Natural Gas. It took Dominion Peoples Crews some time to
locate the Shut Off for the High Pressure Main Gas Line, once located the Gas
was shut off and line bled off, and all hazards were secured. Dominion Crew
were going to do an immediate fix of the affected line. All Units were
released by Dominion and Returned in Service . Crews Operated on scene for
about 2 1/2 hrs. No injuries were Reported. Great Job to All Units and
Personel Involved!

Possible Residential Structure Fire

Stations 221,225 were alerted for a possible Residential
Structure Fire on Runette St. In 221 First due. Engine 225 First On scene
reporting Nothing showing. Engine 221 and Truck 225 Calling out With in
Seconds later. 225 Captain Reported a cooking incident with only a minor smoke
condition, and fire was out on arrival of crews. Units worked on scene for
about 20 min with Ventilation.

Stations 225,221 were alerted
for a Fire Alarm Activation at the Valmar Apt Complex on Robinson Blvd. this
morning. Shortly after the alarm was upgraded to a commercial structure
assignment due to another caller reporting a grease fire, Adding station 227.
225 Engine and 225 Truck First on scene reporting fire was out, Minor smoke
condition all units can return not on scene. 225 Units remained on scene for
ventilation and returned shortly after.

Early Thursday morning Stations
221,225,227 were alerted for the report of a house that collapsed at the
corner of Mt. Carmel Rd. and Runette St. 225 Engine first to arrive found a
residential structure that had collapsed with only side A still standing. The
structure was vacant and there were no injuries, scene was secured and turned
over to station 221 and PHFM 516. All units Returned.

Residential Structure Fire
01-29-2008
Late in the evening, companies 225 and 221 were assigned to respond
to a brush fire endangering a structure on Frankstown Road. Upon
arrival of 225-Engine, there were flames showing from a residential
structure. A second alarm was transmitted, bringing 227 to the
scene. Moments later 222 and 223 RIT were sent to the scene. Within
minutes, an exterior attack was put into effect due to the
conditions present. Wilkins FD 302 was sent to the scene to assist
with foam. Units worked on scene for several hours. Four civilians
were transported to local hospitals.

Dumpster Fire
Station 225 Had back to back
calls Monday evening. First called to a fire alarm on Verona Rd.,while
clearing the alarm 225 was called to a dumpster fire at Nelbon and Lindberg
Ave. 225 Eng found a working Dumpster fire Crews worked on scene for about 20
min. While returning back to the station 225 was again alerted for yet another
fire alarm activation on Verona rd. Faulty detector was the cause. and to top
of the busy night in the 225th Units were called to the structure fire above..

Structure Fire
Stations 225,227,222 were
alerted to a Residential Structure fire Early Sunday Evening. Caller reported
flames coming from the vents and the family pet still inside. 227 Engine first
to arrive finding a working fire on the first floor and basement ceiling.
While Crews made the attack on the fire as well as rescuing the family dog.
Truck 225 laid a supply line the 227 Eng. All units on scene operated for
approx 1 hour. Great Job to all units on scene! No injuries reported and the
family pet was ok!

Early Morning Structure Fire
At Approx. 5:25 am Stations 225
& 221 alerted for reported Structure Fire. Police on scene reporting smoke
showing with a plug near by. 225 Engine arrived on scene and reported a
working fire in the basement. 221 Engine 1 arrived and took the plug. Truck
225 went to work with Ventilation. Command Req.227 added to the card. Units
operated on scene for about 2.5 hours. Fire appears to have originated in
basement with extension into the first floor and roof area. First Floor area
inside the door was burnt out. 516 FM1 on scene for investigation. Good Job to
all that were on scene.

of Station 225 Attended the Installation dinner foe the 2008-2009 Fire
Officers. The New officers Were Sworn in by District Justice. Congratulation
to the New offices!

Fire. Units arriving at station reported it visible from station. 225 Engine 1
and 221 Engine arrived on scene reporting working fire and began
extinguishment. Units use 1 3/4" line from 225 and Booster from 221 to
extinguish. All units returned in service.
